Cake Decorator – Bakery

Lola’s Market is looking for a talented and dependable Cake Decorator to join our Bakery team!

We are seeking someone who enjoys creating beautiful, high-quality cakes and pastries and takes pride in providing excellent customer service. The Cake Decorator will be responsible for decorating cakes and other desserts, preparing special orders, maintaining product quality, and following all food safety and sanitation standards.

What You’ll Do

• Decorate cakes, tarts, gelatins, flan, chocolate flan, and other specialty orders.
• Create decorative designs including borders, flowers, piping, and other cake decorations.
• Assist with the preparation and production of bakery and pastry products.
• Prepare, weigh, package, label, and display products for sale.
• Prepare customer special orders accurately and on time.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and proper product rotation.
• Complete production and spoilage records and adjust production as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, temperature control, and cleaning procedures.
• Maintain and change sanitizer/disinfectant buckets according to company procedures.
• Clean work areas, floors, and display cases as required.
• Ensure product labels, signage, and prices are accurate.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service and respond to customer questions and phone calls.
• Follow company policies, procedures, food safety requirements, and safe work practices.
• Report safety hazards, unsafe conditions, or violations immediately.
• Use the HR/payroll system correctly and report or document any timekeeping issues.
• Attend required training and meetings.
• Work cooperatively with bakery team members and other departments.

What We’re Looking For

• 6–12 months of experience in pastry preparation and cake decorating preferred.
• Experience with cake decorating techniques such as piping, borders, flowers, and specialty designs.
• Knowledge of bakery products, ingredients, and preparation methods.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established procedures.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements, and recipe conversions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to provide respectful and professional service to customers and coworkers.
• Ability to use bakery tools and equipment, including knives, spatulas, box cutters, confectionery equipment, and lifting equipment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently bend, reach, and use hands and arms.
• Lift and carry products and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Work in freezer, refrigerator, room-temperature, and hot bakery environments.
• Work in wet and dry conditions.
• Use stairs when needed.
• Work safely with approved cleaning and sanitation chemicals.

Important: This position may require very early start times, including shifts beginning as early as 12:00 a.m.

Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
