Cake Decorator

Ben & Jerry's University City is a locally owned scoop shop and catering business serving the UPenn campus and West Philadelphia. Our ice cream cakes go to birthdays, graduations, office parties, and campus events, and every one should be created to a high standard of freshness, creativity, and love.

Cakes

• Build, ice, decorate, package, label, and price ice cream cakes for the case
• Bake our standard cookies and brownies per franchise guidelines
• Master our signature designs and every cake on our order menu
• Create custom and seasonal designs
• Fill special and online orders on time, correct, and to standard
• Photograph cakes for social media

Case and stock

• Keep the cake case full, with at least one of each signature design
• Keep a backstock of cakes in every size
• Keep decorating supplies and cake components at par
• Rotate stock, date everything, and pull anything past its date
• Build up stock ahead of holidays, graduation season, and busy weekends
• Track which designs sell best and suggest what to make more of
• Give the manager a weekly list of what needs ordering
• Customers and team
• Help customers choose cakes and take custom orders
• Train crew members to build cakes and make novelties
• Scoop, serve, and help open the store when needed
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and inspection-ready

What you bring

• Cake decorating experience (ice cream cake experience a plus)
• A steady hand and an eye for detail
• ServSafe Food Handler certification, or willingness to get it (Manager level a plus)
• Weekend and holiday availability
• Comfortable multitasking between the cake station and the counter

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
