What they need
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled OBD Diagnosis Calibration Engineer to specialize in the calibration, validation, and testing of diagnosis functions for specific Engine/Vehicle Control Units (EMS). This role bridges software preparation and hands-on validation, requiring you to create software label lists, perform Labcar testing, and execute extensive physical calibration. This position requires a high degree of mobility, including extensive domestic travel and field expeditions (approximately 50 trips of ~15 days each) across diverse terrains and extreme ambient conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- SW Functionality & Pre-Calibration: Create EMS software functions and diagnosis-related label lists. Perform pre-calibration of diagnosis functions and execute preliminary tests on Labcars.
- Testing & Data Acquisition: Prepare test setups and execute diagnosis software functionality tests on Labcars, chassis dynamometers, and vehicles under real driving conditions.
- Field Expeditions & Travel: Manage test vehicles according to predefined procedures. Participate in vehicle expeditions under extreme ambient conditions, requiring up to 50 field travels (~15 days per trip).
- Deliverables & Documentation: Deliver finalized calibration data (DCM/PACO/CDFx files) and ensure timely updates in ICDM & VCDM. Author diagnosis system documents, calibration development reports (internal/external), and application guidelines.
- Collaboration & Review: Maintain frequent status updates with internal teams and customers. Participate in alignment discussions and present data for review with calibration functional experts.
- Innovation & Mentorship: Drive calibration efficiency improvements, assist in automation tool development, and handle know-how transfer to team peers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) principles, engine management systems (EMS), and diagnosis function validation.
- Data & File Management: Proficiency in handling dataset configurations, managing data inside ICDM & VCDM, and generating standard calibration formats like DCM, PACO, and CDFx.
- Testing & Tools: Experience in setting up test instrumentation, testing on Labcars/Dynos, and analyzing field data. Familiarity with automated calibration tooling is a plus.
- Communication & Project Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to clearly present reports to clients and collaborate internally.
- Travel & Adaptability: Absolute willingness to travel extensively for field trails (~750 total days in the field) across tough terrains and extreme weather conditions.
