Purpose of the Function

The Senior Camera Production Engineer owns the transition of camera products from development to stable manufacturing operations and ensures robust production performance once products are released.

The role is responsible for production line readiness, ramp-up, process stabilization, and continuous operational improvement.

The Senior Production Engineer leads technical resolution of complex manufacturing issues and ensures production processes achieve required performance in yield, capacity, cost, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Production Line Release Ownership

• Own the manufacturing readiness of production lines for newly released products.
• Ensure manufacturing processes, tooling, and test setups are ready for production.
• Lead the qualification and release of production lines to operations.
• Ensure work instructions, test procedures, and process documentation are complete and usable by production teams.
• Oversee initial manufacturing builds and ensure adherence to defined processes.

Production Ramp-Up & Scaling

• Lead the ramp-up of production for products entering volume manufacturing.
• Monitor ramp performance including yield, throughput, scrap, and cycle time.
• Identify yield detractors and lead structured yield improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate capacity ramp planning with operations.
• Ensure production processes scale reliably to volume manufacturing.

Process Stabilization & Troubleshooting

• Act as the technical escalation point for complex manufacturing issues.
• Lead root cause investigations for recurring production problems.
• Ensure production teams perform first-line analysis of manufacturing issues.
• Coordinate with R&D / Product Release teams when issues originate from product design or architecture.
• Ensure stable, repeatable manufacturing processes.

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

• Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
• Improve process capability, yield, and production efficiency.
• Identify automation opportunities including scripts and process improvements.
• Lead cost reduction initiatives related to manufacturing processes.

Production Operations Ownership

• Ensure manufacturing processes operate reliably during production.
• Oversee resolution of production issues impacting manufacturing processes.
• Ensure proper implementation of process changes and improvements.
• Monitor production KPIs and drive improvement initiatives.

Documentation, Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Ensure manufacturing documentation is maintained and updated.
• Improve work instructions and process documentation where needed.
• Train production technicians and operators on new processes or improvements.
• Support knowledge transfer from R&D to manufacturing operations.

Ownership & Accountability

• Stable and efficient manufacturing of released camera products.
• Successful ramp-up of products entering volume production.
• Technical ownership of manufacturing processes in production.
• Continuous improvement of yield, cycle time, and process capability.
• Resolution of complex production issues within the manufacturing domain.

Required Skills & Experience

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Industrial Engineering or similar).

• Significant experience in production or manufacturing engineering.

• Strong expertise in:

  • Manufacturing troubleshooting
  • Yield improvement
  • Process stabilization
  • Production ramp-up
  • Root cause analysis

• Experience working closely with R&D and manufacturing teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Production ramp up success – prodcution readiness for volume projects
• Production Issue Resolution: Timely identification and resolution of complex production issues, including engineering holds and process disruptions.
• Tooling Optimization: Solve tooling bottlenecks, assess tool throughput, and build efficient tool usage plans to maximize productivity.
• Throughput & Efficiency: Implement short-term process optimizations to increase line throughput and reduce cycle times.
• Yield & Quality Improvement: Maintain and improve product quality, reduce rework, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Lean Manufacturing Practices: Apply lean principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement Contributions: Identify and implement improvements in production processes, tools, and SOPs for long-term operational excellence.
• EHS Compliance: Ensure all production operations comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations, with zero incidents or deviations.
