Part-Time to ¾-Time

Oak Grove School, a small Pre-K through 12th-grade progressive college-preparatory school in Ojai, California, is seeking a dependable, hands-on Campus & Grounds Assistant to help care for our 150-acre campus and support the school’s daily operations.

This is a varied, active position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining a beautiful and functional campus, and is comfortable moving between routine grounds care and the practical needs of a busy school community.

The Role

The Campus & Grounds Assistant works as part of the school’s Facilities and Maintenance team to help keep the campus safe, clean, welcoming, and ready for students, faculty, staff, and community events.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular irrigation and grounds checks and report maintenance needs
• Support the preparation, set-up, and breakdown of school events and activities
• Remove and manage trash and recycling throughout the campus
• Deweb buildings, walkways, outdoor spaces, and other campus areas
• Use leaf blowers and other basic grounds-maintenance equipment
• Help keep outdoor areas, common spaces, and facilities clean and orderly
• Assist with basic facilities and maintenance tasks as needed
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies for events and school activities
• Identify and report safety, maintenance, or repair issues
• Support seasonal campus maintenance and special projects
• Work collaboratively with the facilities team and respond to the changing needs of the school
• Assist with rodent control and mitigation
• Perform other campus and facilities duties as needed

• Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and using basic grounds-maintenance equipment
• Attentive to detail and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and beautiful campus
• Able to organize tasks, manage time, and work independently
• Willing to pitch in and help wherever needed
• Comfortable working around children and within a school community
• A clear and respectful communicator
• Collaborative, flexible, and able to respond to changing priorities
• Experienced with basic groundskeeping, facilities, landscaping, or maintenance work; school or institutional experience is a plus

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time to ¾-time
• $26/hour
• Schedule to be determined based on the needs of the school and the availability of the successful candidate
• Position is on-site at Oak Grove School in Ojai, California

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
