Campus Custodial Team

The Winston School is seeking a dependable, hands-on team member to join our Campus Custodial Team. This role plays an important part in keeping our campus clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for students and staff each day.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, notices the details, works well independently and as part of a team, and is comfortable working in an active school environment. This position involves regular physical activity and requires someone who is flexible, responsive, and willing to pitch in wherever needed.

What You’ll Do

• Campus Cleaning & Care
• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, stairways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors and surfaces throughout campus.
• Clean windows, furniture, fixtures, and other campus features.
• Clean and restock restrooms and maintain a consistently clean and sanitary environment.
• Empty trash and recycling and prepare materials for pickup.
• Move light furniture as needed to clean underneath and around furnishings.
• Strip, wax, buff, and otherwise maintain floors.
• Operate custodial equipment, including vacuums, buffers, shampoo machines, and water vacuums.
• Safely measure, mix, and use cleaning products according to product instructions and school safety procedures.

Campus Support

• Assist with lunch and kitchen-area duties as needed.
• Help unload, organize, and distribute custodial supplies and materials.
• Monitor inventory and communicate when supplies need to be reordered.
• Identify and report maintenance needs, damage, safety concerns, or other issues requiring attention.
• Respond promptly to spills, unexpected messes, and other campus needs.
• Assist with special projects, events, and other campus needs throughout the school year.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• A team player with a good sense of humor and a willingness to help wherever needed.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least three years of relevant custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Previous experience operating commercial cleaning equipment is preferred.
• Professionalism, reliability, organization, and consistent attendance are essential.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This is an active, physical position. The successful candidate must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Regularly bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and grip.
• Regularly climb stairs and occasionally climb a six-foot ladder.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and tools.
• Work around cleaning products, chemicals, dust, dirt, grease, fumes, and other materials commonly found in custodial work.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all school safety procedures.
• Respond appropriately and promptly to emergency or time-sensitive situations.
