Campus Organizer

The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring Campus Organizers for our 2026 coordinated campaign’s campus program. Iowa is a key state to Democrats taking back power both in state and at the federal level with highly competitive elections at all levels. Campus Organizers will report to an assigned Regional Organizing Director.

This position is a full-time, election cycle position through November 15th 2026 and is unionized through Teamsters Local 238. Salary is $4,500 monthly. The position is based in Iowa, and requires regular travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position. No experience necessary! All training is provided. Position Responsibilities Include

• Work to elect Iowa Democrats up and down the ballot by recruiting student volunteers, and staffing/attending campus events relevant to our candidates
• Recruit, manage, and train student volunteers to participate in direct voter contact; including to door-to-door canvassing, recruitment calls, and relational organizing
• Implement strategies to meet daily and weekly metrics, adhere to established statewide data standards, and ensure accurate data collection for all voter-contact activity
• Support student interns, fellows, and volunteers by providing regular 1:1 meetings and trainings
• Build relationships with student organizations and campus stakeholders
• Recruit, manage and train student volunteer leaders to help execute a large scale GOTV
• Other duties as assigned by the Regional Organizing Director

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and desire to organize for Democrats up and down the ballot
• Valid driver’s license, reliable access to a personal vehicle, internet, and a cellphone
• Willingness to work in the field office nearest to your assigned campus
• Strong communication skills – ability to speak with and persuade voters
• Experience working with college age voters and knowledge of the issues they care about
• Drive to hit and exceed metric goals, and ability to take feedback from managers
• Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a willingness to problem-solve
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours – including weekends
