Campus Security Aide

Postion Description
The Campus Security Aide will work directly under the supervision of the Mendez High School site coordinator to assist in maintaining the safety of BTB program youth, along with ensuring the observance of campus rules and procedures by youth, during after-school programming on the site campus.

As the BTB Campus Security Aide you are expected to be vigilant during campus patrols to prevent the violation of rules or safety procedures; have strong communication skills to relay important security-related information to site coordinators; and perform various tasks with patience, tact and good judgment within established BTB-Legacy LA guidelines. Must be available Monday through Friday from 3:15pm - 6:30pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Campus Security Aide

• Patrol school corridors, & all rooms, gymnasiums, and fields where BTB programming occurs in order to prevent safety violations or unsafe behavior from youth.
• Provide information to site coordinators regarding campus safety updates and/or causes and effects of campus community tension or conflict.
• Gather information and provide advice to the site coordinator in the event of continuous campus tension or safety violations.
• May direct youth and other campus community members and take action, if necessary, to prevent injury to persons or damage to property.
• Keep unauthorized persons off-campus.
• Assist site coordinator in discussing campus security with parents and community groups.
• May assist certified BTB Program staff in supervising youth during programming on campus, during field trips, or during special events.
• Deliver, set up, lay out, or collect equipment and other materials at the request of the site coordinator.
• Duties as assigned; please note that the position requires flexibility in the event that site coordinators need support with other programs or duties outside of the typical scope of work.

Required Qualifications

• Have campus security experience and be First AID/CPR certified.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage conflict de-escalation effectively

Pay: $18.42 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 16.0 per week
