This full-time associate role, beginning on July 19, 2027, has a set annual gross base salary of $110,000 a year.

This position has multiple openings and may be based in our Reston, VA (Reston Town Center) and Plano, TX (Granite Park) offices.

WHY STUDENTS CHOOSE FANNIE MAE:

  • Build a career with purpose at the intersection of technology, finance, and national impact.

  • Benefit from mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities designed to help you grow your career and expand your professional network.
  • Make a meaningful impact while developing the tools, exposure, and experience to succeed in your career.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

As a Technology Program Associate, you will work with innovative technology on diverse teams that foster originality and collaboration. We offer an opportunity to receive on-the-job training and professional development while building a wide network of peers, managers, and leaders who are experts in their fields.

Code creators, problem solvers, quick thinkers. Our technology associates develop solutions that tackle big challenges in housing. We’re solving problems like digitizing antiquated processes, advancing greater equity in mortgage finance, and creating climate resiliency in housing.

Technology Training Program
We invest in YOU and your career by providing challenging, meaningful work and a development experience designed to build the skills you need to grow as a technology professional. As a Technology Program Associate, you will have opportunities to:

  • Apply technical, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills through hands-on learning and real-world projects
  • Deepen knowledge of Fannie Mae’s business and technology ecosystem, creating a strong foundation for career growth and mobility across technology organizations
  • Develop skills across a variety of front-end, back-end, DevOps, and Cloud tools
  • Build relationships with your cohort, managers, and colleagues across the organization while gaining exposure to different areas of Fannie Mae

Your full-time career will begin in July 2027 with a comprehensive 11-week technical training program designed to prepare you with the foundational skills and tools needed to succeed in an entry-level technology role at Fannie Mae.

You will develop practical experience using AI alongside traditional engineering skills, including AI-assisted development, debugging and problem solving, prompt techniques, workflow design and automation, and more, while applying appropriate security, governance, and human oversight.

The program provides hands-on experience with technologies and concepts used across Fannie Mae’s technology ecosystem, including:

  • Software Development: Java, Spring, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, Python, HTML/CSS, REST
  • Data & Databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redshift
  • Cloud: AWS, including EC2, Bedrock, Command Line Interface, API Gateway
  • DevOps & Engineering Practices: Git, GitLab, CI/CD, Docker, Splunk
  • AI & Emerging Technology: AI-assisted development tools, prompt engineering, AI workflows and automation, and responsible AI and security practices

Throughout training, you will apply what you learn through iterative projects and receive ongoing support from technical trainers, subject matter experts, your manager, and your peers. After completing training, you will transition to your technology team and continue building on these foundational skills through challenging, meaningful assignments designed to help you grow your capabilities and take charge of your career.

Role Opportunities

Determined by the function you support, you will be placed into one of the following roles:

  • Software engineering
