What they need
Canvassing Team Leader (Field Sales & Operations)
Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, hands-on Canvassing Team Leader to build, train, and mentor a high-performing team of door-to-door canvassers. In this role, you are the heartbeat of our field operations. You won't be sitting behind a desk—you will lead from the front, operating directly from the mobile field unit (company truck), keeping energy high, and turning new hires into top-producing canvassers.
If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-octane door-to-door environment and know how to blend dynamic leadership with a fun, supportive culture (think team meals, cold drinks, continuous daily wins, and strong incentives), this is your stage.
Position Specifics
Location/Territory: Base is Western Suburbs with travel to entire Chicagoland Area
Hours: Monday-Friday from 12pm-8pm & Saturdays 10am-3pm
Daily Workflow: A Day in the Life
- Morning Basecamp (Office): Meet your team at the office for daily prep, dynamic training huddles, target setting, and hype sessions.
- Deploy to Field: Load the team into the company truck and drive out to designated neighborhoods and target territories.
- In-the-Field Leadership: Work directly out of the truck as your team base camp. Run side-by-side training on doors, conduct live field coaching, stock cold drinks and meals, and keep morale at an all-time high.
- Wrap-Up & Return: Gather the team at the end of the shift, celebrate daily wins, drive everyone safely back to the office, and lead a quick wrap-up debrief.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Leadership & Daily Logistics
- Safely transport the canvassing team to and from target neighborhoods daily in the company truck.
- Serve as the central hub and support contact for team members while on the ground.
- Manage neighborhood territory assignments, ensuring full coverage and compliance with local guidelines.
- Maintain a well-stocked, highly organized vehicle with marketing materials, badges, cold drinks, snacks, and team lunches.
2. Team Development & Mentorship
- Recruit, onboard, and continuously develop new door-to-door canvassers.
- Teach core canvassing skills: pitch delivery, objection handling, body language, and closing techniques.
- Perform regular door-to-door "shadowing" and live ride-alongs to give real-time, actionable feedback.
- Mentally refresh team members who hit tough doors and help them bounce back instantly with renewed confidence.
3. Culture & Motivation
- Build a high-energy, fun, and inclusive team dynamic where competition is friendly and achievements are celebrated.
- Supply daily food, drinks, music, and field perks to keep team spirits refreshed and focused.
- Implement daily field contests, spot-cash bonuses, and interactive challenges to boost engagement and door volume.
4. Performance & Accountability
- Track daily individual and team KPIs (doors knocked, contacts made, leads generated, appointments booked).
- Conduct brief daily end-of-shift debriefs at the office to review performance metrics and prep for the next day.
- Ensure all team members adhere to company standards, professionalism, and community guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven D2D Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of successful door-to-door canvassing or direct field sales experience.
- Leadership Capability: Prior experience leading, managing, or training a team in direct sales or field outreach preferred.
- Valid Driver's License: Clean driving record required to operate company transport vehicles.
- High Energy & Resilience: Exceptional communication skills, contagious enthusiasm, and a positive mindset under challenging weather or field conditions.
- Coaching Instincts: A passion for teaching, mentoring, and watching team members succeed financially and professionally.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to spend 6–8 hours outdoors, walking neighborhoods, and supporting the team on foot as needed.
