What they need

About the role

This role will support the South Australian State Emergency Service (SA SES) commitment to continuing to attract, develop and support volunteers who serve their communities during emergencies.

Within SASES, a capability is the ability to respond to a specific type of emergency or incident, such as a land search, road crash rescue, general rescue, or vertical rescue. To provide a capability, SASES needs the right equipment, trained people, and resources that are ready to respond when needed.

This Capability Coordinator leads and coordinates the development, delivery and ongoing maintenance of assigned SA SES capabilities. The role ensures capability doctrine, equipment, systems, training and skills maintenance are aligned with organisational needs, community risk, legislation and standards. Working with volunteers, staff, subject matter experts and sector partners, the role supports consistent, safe and sustainable capability outcomes across the organisation.

About you

SA SES is seeking a highly motivated individual that is a passionate about building the capability of others, someone that genuinely enjoys working with people, is an excellent communicator and has experience in developing strong working relationships.

We encourage applications for suitably qualified candidates that possess experience whether working in a Registered Training Organisation, from within a technical Learning & Development environment, or those that possess strong technical experience within a service that is related to or aligned to one of the SASES capabilities.

You will be committed to designing and delivering quality training initiatives that achieve a genuine impact on SES volunteers and their experience working the us.

You will be confident taking on and managing multiple concurrent projects, preferably involving organisational change or development, or training initiatives. This will rely on your highly developed project co-ordination/management skills and IT skillset.

Suitable qualifications related to SASES Capability area or your professional experience are also required. Ideally candidates will possess a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to undertake).

About us

The SA SES is a volunteer-based emergency response and rescue organisation providing vital support to the South Australian community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Each year, SA SES responds to thousands of calls for assistance, helping to save lives and protect property across the state. Our 1800 volunteers, based in 69 units across South Australia, are supported by a dedicated team of staff committed to the same mission: minimising the loss of life, injuries and damage from emergencies and natural disasters.

Our vision is to be a reliable and trusted volunteer-based organisation building safe and resilient communities. We are guided by our core values of service, professionalism, trust, respect, collaboration, honesty, courage and sustainability.
