Our team is supported and embraced by our leadership and SME’s, to drive innovation and to make a genuine difference to lift our culture, performance and accountability across the Council.
Our Capability & Enablement tima are collaborative, forward-thinking, and embrace innovation. They share ideas and look for practical ways to make things better. They’re passionate about helping our people build capability, work smarter and get the most out of the tools and systems available to them.
You don’t need to be a learning or systems specialist to make this role your own. We’re interested in the skills you bring, your digital confidence, your curiosity about AI and emerging technology, and your ability to turn ideas into practical improvements.
We’re looking for someone who is organised, digitally savvy and naturally curious. Someone who enjoys figuring out how things work, solving problems and making sure the details are right. This is an opportunity to combine strong administration skills with technology, systems and innovation in a role that supports people and capability across Te Kaunihera o Pōneke.
Āu ake mahi | What you’ll do
As our Capability Systems Advisor, you’ll help improve how we use technology, maintain our people capability systems and support kaimahi to learn, develop and work effectively.
Explore AI and emerging technology: Help our people use Microsoft 365, Copilot and other digital tools confidently, safely and effectively. Develop practical resources and guidance that turn new technology into everyday solutions.
Keep our systems in good shape: Support the administration, maintenance and improvement of our learning, performance, development and engagement platforms, ensuring information is accurate and systems are user-friendly.
Solve problems and improve processes: Troubleshoot routine issues, test system changes and identify opportunities to use technology and automation to make things easier and more efficient.
Make data work harder: Support reporting and dashboards, helping turn system information into useful insights that inform capability and learning activity.
Create engaging digital learning: Contribute to online learning content, resources and guidance, exploring tools that make learning more accessible and engaging.
Make it easy for people to get support: Respond to queries, coordinate requests, maintain helpful user guides and work with the wider team to keep things moving.
Ngā tohu me ngā wheako | Qualifications and experience
We’re interested in transferable skills, a strong foundation in administration and a genuine interest in technology. What matters most is your ability to learn quickly, work methodically and deliver quality outcomes.

Confidence using Microsoft 365 and enthusiasm for exploring AI, automation and emerging technologies.
A logical, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to investigate issues, learn new systems and find practical solutions.
