Role Description The Capacity Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Monterrey, NL,
Responsibilities
- Secure capacity in Mexico for northbound (cross-border MX-USA) pickups.
- Prospect, negotiate rates with, and onboard new carriers, with complete documentation.
- Build and grow your own portfolio of reliable carriers (cross-border, drayage, door-to-door).
- Follow up with each carrier until the pickup is completed, and resolve rejections, delays, or lack of equipment in real time.
- Build and maintain a carrier scorecard (punctuality, incidents, price, availability, and service) and use it to decide who gets assigned.
- Coordinate with the operations team and the Routing Specialist on shipment follow-up.
- Report available capacity, risks, and results to the Northbound Operations Manager on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in capacity, carrier sales, carrier procurement, or carrier assignment in ground transportation.
- Active portfolio of Mexican carriers (essential): you should be able to tell us how many you work with and which ones you could onboard in your first month.
- Experience negotiating rates and capacity, including in tight-market conditions.
- Knowledge of cross-border MX-USA operations (crossings, basic documentation, transit times).
- To know about kind of units, certifications required (CTPAT, OEA), etc.
- Advanced English (daily calls and emails with U.S. counterparts).
- Proficiency in Excel and at least one TMS or tracking system.
- Willingness to stay with the operation until open items are closed, not just until clock-out time.
- Ability to finish what you start: results-oriented, with measurable outcomes.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in brokerage or freight forwarding.
- Experience building scorecards or carrier performance reports.
- Daily follow-up with the team on assigning trips to carriers and confirming equipment, driver, and pickup time.
