Service Manager / Head Technician – Caravans & RVs

Leisure Shed is a 100% locally owned and operated caravan dealership based in central Auckland. We have grown year on year and built a strong reputation in the caravan industry for quality products, workmanship and customer service.

We're now looking for an experienced Service Manager / Head Technician to become a key member of our leadership team and help take our service department to the next level.

This is a hands-on leadership role. We're looking for someone who knows caravans, can confidently diagnose and solve technical problems, takes pride in high-quality workmanship, and has the leadership skills to organise, train and motivate a busy service team.

The role

You'll take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of our service department, working alongside our technicians while ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, on time and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, supporting and training our service technicians
• Planning and managing workshop workflow, priorities and timeframes
• Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting complex caravan repairs
• Carrying out and overseeing servicing, repairs and upgrade installations
• Ensuring consistently high standards of workmanship and quality control
• Communicating professionally with customers regarding repairs, servicing and upgrades
• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and our Gas, Electrical and Self Containment certifiers
• Helping the service department achieve its productivity and performance targets
• Maintaining an organised, professional and positive workshop environment

Technical experience

We're looking for someone with strong practical experience across caravan and RV servicing, repairs and installations.

You should be confident working with areas such as:

• Cabinetry and general caravan repairs

• 12V electrical systems and fault finding

• Solar systems and accessory installations

• Diesel heaters

• TVs and other caravan accessories

• Fresh and grey-water tank installations

• Plumbing and water systems

• Fridges, kitchen appliances and heating systems

• Self Containment requirements

• General caravan servicing, maintenance and troubleshooting

You don't necessarily need to personally hold every specialist certification, as we work closely with qualified Gas, Electrical and Self Containment certifiers. However, you must have enough technical knowledge and experience to confidently manage jobs involving these systems and coordinate the appropriate trades.

About you

You'll already have solid experience in the caravan/RV industry, ideally combined with experience leading a service team or workshop.

• Is organised, resourceful and self-motivated
• Takes pride in their workmanship and has excellent attention to detail
• Is reliable, punctual and professional
• Works equally well independently and as part of a team
• Is comfortable liaising with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
• Has clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
• Is physically capable of the practical requirements of the position
• Is positive, approachable and contributes to a great team and customer environment
• Is willing to learn and take on new challenges as the business develops

You must also be experienced and confident safely towing and manoeuvring large caravans and hold a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
