The role

We are currently looking to recruit carers who share our passion for making a difference in the lives of others. We are recruiting into both day shift and night shift roles.

St Catherine’s Nursing Home, proudly part of St Cuthbert’s Care, has recently achieved the prestigious Gold Standard Framework, highlighting our commitment to excellence in person-centred care. Our mission is to ensure that our residents continue to live life to the fullest, with dignity, respect, and joy.

Experience is not always necessary as we provide comprehensive training to all our staff. What we value most is a genuine interest in helping people, along with a kind and caring nature.

If you’re compassionate, dedicated and looking to join a team that truly values its residents and team members, we’d love to hear from you.

Your duties will include:

  • Provide personal care and support to residents, including assisting people to the toilet and to bathe, in accordance with each individual care plan, ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained at all times
  • Assist and serve residents at every meal, snack and drink time, promoting choice and ensuring individual needs are met
  • Be aware of residents’ particular interests, likes and dislikes and engage with residents at every opportunity, including planned events, by actively listening and talking about each person’s interests and introducing wider topics where relevant. This may include prompting and assisting with daily activities that support physical and mental stimulation. This will also include assisting and working alongside our home’s well-being co-ordinators.
  • Support and encourage each resident to practice and follow their own religion and spiritual beliefs.
  • Accompany residents to medical appointments, hospital, social events and outings.
  • Support the home’s housekeepers to maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness throughout the home at all time. This may include helping to clean specific areas following unintended accidents and spillages.
  • Be directed to support with highly personalised and compassionate end of life care
  • Respond to the home’s nurse-call system in a timely manner and in line with the home’s process
