Career Development Specialist - Walton CI

Tallahassee State College is thrilled to announce a full-time grant-funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist with DOC – Walton Correctional Institution.

Career Development Specialists will facilitate instruction of the Compass 180 program, which refers to the Department's comprehensive 100-Hour Transition Skills Education program that covers career exploration and identification, job readiness, and life management skills for inmates.

The services to be provided include, but are not limited to:

• Delivery of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum
• Conducting the Compass 180 and Compass 180 Update programs with the designated curriculum and resources provided
• Ensuring the development and completion of a Readiness Portfolio by each student
• Entering the Readiness Portfolio in the proprietary database
• Ensuring that all class sessions are documented, and inmate attendance and status accurately captured on the DC5-149
• Providing information pertaining to pre-release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officer’s
• Assisting the Pre-Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre-release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face-to-face and technology-based interactions.

Career Development Specialist Qualifications:

• An Associate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of related work experience or a high school diploma and two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, corrections or related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Valid Florida Driver’s License
