Duties

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to promote independence and well-being
• Implement behavior management strategies to support positive behaviors and address challenging behaviors effectively
• Support communication using various methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication tools
• Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining detailed medication administration records
• Collect and document data related to progress, behavior patterns, and service delivery to ensure quality care and compliance
• Drive clients to appointments, community activities, or outings safely while maintaining a clean driving record
• Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized plans that meet each person’s unique needs

Skills

• Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other disabilities in home or community settings
• Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health practices to support learning and emotional regulation
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, team members, and community partners
• Ability to perform caregiving tasks with patience, empathy, and professionalism in diverse environments
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques and data collection methods for tracking progress
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for safe transportation responsibilities
• Familiarity with medication administration procedures and documentation requirements
