The person dancing may have spent months sitting home alone. The person making everyone laugh may have needed a little encouragement to join in. And somewhere across town, a daughter is getting through her workday knowing her dad is safe, cared for, and having a great day.

Someone who sees a room full of stories worth hearing. Who learns that one member loves Elvis, another needs a little reassurance, and someone sitting quietly might be waiting for an invitation.

As a Caregiver / Activities Assistant, you’ll help bring our days to life through music, games, crafts, movement, meals, and conversation. You’ll also provide hands-on care—helping with mobility, toileting assistance, transfers, meals and other personal needs according to each member’s care plan.

It takes patience. It takes energy. It takes someone willing to help set up the activity, clean up after lunch, and offer the same kindness after someone asks the same question over and over.

We’re looking for a dependable teammate who brings that kind of care and wants to contribute ideas, join the fun, and get to know the individual needs of each member.

Experience working with seniors or adults living with cognitive decline is preferred.

About the Role:

• Title: Caregiver / Activity Assistant
• Schedule: 2-3 days a week (Daytime hours) from 8 am - 5pm, and every other Saturday 9 am - 4 pm.
• Location: ActivAge Sarasota: 3801 Bee Ridge Road Suite 5, Sarasota, FL 34233

Your Responsibilities:

• Actively participate in member activities throughout the day.
• Assist in facilitating creative and exciting programs, encouraging member participation.
• Prepare and set up engaging member activities.
• Serve meals and snacks; assist members requiring help with eating; clear tables.
• Help maintain a clean, orderly, and vibrant environment.
• Communicate positively and courteously with members, their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service educational programs as needed.
• Collaborate with the team to enhance the member experience and achieve overall goals and objectives.
• Assist with Personal Care Needs (activities of daily living) based on our members care plans.

Your Skills and Qualities:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with cognitive decline.
• Love of working with others and engaging in arts, crafts, food, music, learning, gardening, and recreation.
• Punctual, responsible, with a professional attitude, and a passion for seniors.
• Able to work a flexible schedule.
• Able to bend, pull, push, squat, turn, transfer, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while providing physical assistance to members.
• Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state-specific regulatory requirements.
