Caregiver (weekends only)

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Respite Caregiver to provide essential support and relief to individuals with diverse needs in their homes or community settings. Responsibilities

• Provide patient personal care assistance, including help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
• Monitor and observe patients’ health status by taking vital signs, administering medications as prescribed, and maintaining accurate care plans aligned with healthcare standards such as HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with meal preparation and nutritional needs, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed while promoting healthy eating habits.
• Support clients with home & community care tasks including light cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment.
• Offer companionship and emotional support while engaging clients in activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
• Facilitate transportation for medical appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance.
• Document all care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare protocols and communicate effectively with healthcare providers or family members regarding client progress.

Experience

• Experience supporting children with disabilities or additional support needs is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience working with children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, developmental delay, or other neurodevelopmental conditions is an asset.
• A caring, patient, and compassionate approach, with the ability to build trust and positive relationships with children and their families.
• Confidence supporting a child's daily routines, play, learning, and community activities while encouraging independence and development.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before starting).
• Ability to remain calm, use sound judgment, and respond appropriately in challenging situations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with parents, guardians, and other support professionals.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are an advantage (if community outings or school pick-ups are required).
• All required background checks and clearances for working with children must be current or obtained before employment.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and safeguarding the wellbeing of the child at all times.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
