What they need
Swap the Exeter or Plymouth commute for working on Dartmoor!
Do you live in or around Newton Abbot? Why spend your day stuck in traffic, crawling in and out of a city, when you could be heading out to beautiful Dartmoor instead?
We’re looking for caring, reliable people to join our friendly team at NEDCare, supporting people across North East Dartmoor to stay independent and live well in their own homes.
Please note, we are not a Home Office-licenced employer and therefore cannot offer sponsorships.
If you’re travelling over 10 miles to get to us, we’ll also help with the cost of getting to work. We reimburse commuting mileage at 45p per mile for mileage over 10 miles, so you can spend less time worrying about the cost of your journey and more time enjoying a truly rewarding job in a beautiful part of Devon.
You could make all the difference to someone’s day.
Join us and you’ll get:
- To work for a professional, highly-regarded local charity in a genuinely friendly team - we look out for one another
- Paid for all the time you work for us, whether you’re caring for someone or travelling between visits
- Paid the Real Living Wage as your starting hourly rate
- Opportunity for career progression with pay increases once training and probation is complete
- An additional 10% on your hourly rate for you work before 8am, after 6pm or over the weekend
- 45p/mile mileage expenses paid, including eligible travel from home to your first visit and from your last visit home
- Flexible hours – from 8 to 40 hours per week
- Fully paid training and support until you’re confident and ready to work independently
No care experience? That's absolutely fine
You don't need previous care experience to join us.
What matters most is that you’re kind, caring, reliable and want to make a difference. We’ll provide fully paid training and support you every step of the way until you’re ready to work on your own.
If you've worked in retail, hospitality, childcare, customer service or another people-focused role, you may already have many of the skills you need to become a great carer.
Main Responsibilities:
The overall purpose of the role is to provide a high quality and person-centred service that responds to the needs and preferences of the client, enhances their quality of life and promotes independence. Duties may include:
- Supporting individuals with their personal care routines
- Assisting with practical household tasks
- Helping clients to access their community
- Providing conversation, companionship and social and emotional support
- Assisting with medication, e.g. via prompts and reminders
Every person is different, so every day is different. You'll get to know the people you support and build relationships that make a real difference.
What we're looking for:
- Empathetic, compassionate and caring
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Positive and willing to learn
- Comfortable supporting people in their own homes
- Ideally drivers with access to a vehicle
- Able to travel reliably throughout the North East Dartmoor area
