Caretaker

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Caretaker to help keep our racket and sports club, grounds and facilities clean, safe and well maintained.

The role will involve a mixture of grounds work, general maintenance, cleaning and day-to-day caretaking duties. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, take pride in their work and be happy working both independently and as part of the wider club team.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Court Maintenance

• General upkeep and maintenance of the club grounds and outdoor areas.
• General upkeep of the clubs parks sites
• Helping to maintain and look after clay & grass tennis courts, including basic court preparation, watering and upkeep.
• General care and maintenance of padel courts and surrounding areas.
• Keeping paths, entrances, car parks and outdoor areas tidy and presentable.
• Clearing leaves, weeds, litter and other debris, or waste.
• Carrying out seasonal grounds maintenance tasks.

Cleaning & Waste

• Emptying bins throughout the outdoor areas.
• Keeping bin areas clean and tidy.
• General cleaning of communal and external areas as required.
• Assisting with keeping the club presentable for members, visitors and events.
• Reporting any cleaning, maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate person.

General Maintenance & Handyman Duties

• Carrying out basic repairs and general handyman tasks around the club.
• Basic painting, decorating and touch-up work.
• Minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipment.
• Assisting with putting up signs, shelves, hooks and other fixtures.
• Helping with basic plumbing, electrical or other maintenance tasks where appropriate and within the individual's level of competence.
• Identifying problems and reporting larger or specialist repairs when required.
• Helping with the set-up and clearing away of equipment for club events and activities.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• Practical, hands-on and able to turn their hand to a variety of jobs.
• Reliable, punctual and conscientious.
• Happy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Comfortable carrying out physical work.
• Able to work independently and use their own initiative.
• A good eye for detail and takes pride in keeping the club clean, safe and well presented.
• Friendly and approachable when dealing with club members, staff and visitors.
• Ideally experienced in grounds maintenance, caretaking, facilities or general handyman work, although relevant practical experience will be considered.

Additional Requirements

• Good general level of physical fitness.
• Ability to safely use basic hand and gardening tools.
• A willingness to learn how to maintain the club's different court surfaces and facilities.
• A full UK driving licence
