About the role

Primus Build is seeking an experienced Carpenterto join our growing team in Darwin, NT. This full-time position offers varied work across insurance repairs and rebuilding, residential renovations and commercial projects.

We are looking for a capable carpenter who can take ownership of work on site, lead by example and coordinate with other trades to deliver quality results. You will work closely with our supervisors and management team, helping organise daily activities, guide labourers and maintain safe, productive sites.

From repairing storm, water and fire damage to completing renovations and commercial building works, this role offers a diverse range of projects and the opportunity to apply your skills to different challenges.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out carpentry and general building works across insurance, residential and commercial projects.
• Undertaking repairs and reinstatement to damaged properties, including framing, roofing timbers, wall linings, doors, windows, skirtings and architraves.
• Leading day-to-day work on site, organising tasks and providing direction to labourers and trade assistants.
• Coordinating with supervisors, subcontractors and other trades to keep work progressing efficiently.
• Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Identifying additional damage or site issues and communicating these promptly to the supervisor.
• Planning material and equipment requirements to minimise delays.
• Maintaining quality workmanship and completing work in accordance with project requirements.
• Working respectfully in occupied homes and commercial premises, with care for clients and their property.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe site.

What we’re looking for

• A recognised carpentry qualification and proven experience in residential or commercial building work.
• The confidence and practical experience to lead work on site and supervise labourers or trade assistants.
• A broad range of carpentry skills, including structural repairs, framing and finishing work.
• Experience in renovations, maintenance or insurance repairs would be highly regarded.
• The ability to assess existing conditions, solve problems and adapt as work progresses.
• Confidence reading drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues and other trades.
• A reliable, organised approach and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• A current driver’s licence and construction White Card.
• Working at Heights certification required
• Roofing experience would be highly regarded.
