Dunaway Brothers is looking for skilled rough and finish carpenters who take pride in their work, show up ready to contribute, and want to be part of a team that values quality, safety, and accountability.

Serving commercial and residential clients since 2006, we have built our reputation on integrity, reliability, and getting the job done right. We’re seeking carpenters who bring those same standards to every project.

Responsibilities

• Install finish carpentry, including baseboard, casing, molding, cabinetry, and architectural millwork.
• Install acoustical ceiling tile (ACT) systems, including suspended grid, wall angle, hanger wires, and ceiling tiles.
• Coordinate ceiling layout and openings with lighting, HVAC, sprinkler, and other trades.
• Install commercial hollow metal (HM) doors and frames, wood doors, and associated hardware.
• Install and adjust hinges, locksets, closers, exit devices, stops, and related hardware to ensure proper operation.
• Follow door and hardware schedules, manufacturer instructions, and requirements for rated assemblies.
• Read and follow blueprints, reflected ceiling plans, shop drawings, specifications, and field instructions.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately.
• Complete punch-list work and maintain consistent workmanship from start to finish.
• Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and other trades to keep projects moving.
• Protect finished surfaces, maintain organized work areas, and follow company and jobsite safety requirements.
• Identify field issues early and communicate material needs or questions before they affect the schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous professional carpentry experience, with skills in rough carpentry, finish carpentry, or both.
• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a crew.
• Strong understanding of layout, measurements, construction methods, and proper tool use.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work efficiently.
• Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a professional attitude.
• Reliable transportation to jobsites throughout Chicagoland.
• Ability to perform essential carpentry duties, including material handling, overhead work, bending, kneeling, and working on ladders or lifts, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred: Commercial construction experience, OSHA safety training, and lift training.
