Carpenter's Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finish Carpenter Assistant to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge in completing residential and finishing projects, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. This position is to assist a lead carpenter to help complete various projects, such TV walls, staircases, trim and crown molding. There will also be a need for caulking, painting and staining. Your energy and enthusiasm will help drive project success and client satisfaction. Please be aware this will be a 1099 position.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installing trim, molding, doors, windows, cabinetry, and other wood fixtures in residential settings
• Prepare work areas by measuring, cutting, and assembling wood components using hand tools and power tools for woodworking
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure precise installation
• Operate woodworking machines safely to cut, shape, and finish wood materials according to project specifications
• Support in caulking, painting, sanding, wood filling, and staining.
• Help with heavy lifting of construction materials and fixtures while maintaining proper safety protocols

Requirements

• Prior construction experience or a background in carpentry or woodworking is highly preferred but not necessary.
• Proficiency with hand tools such as hammers, saws, chisels, screwdrivers, as well as power tools for woodworking like drills, saws, and sanders.
• Knowledge of wood construction materials including the various species of wood is recommended.
• Understanding of power tool safety practices and proper handling of woodworking machines.
• Experience working on construction sites with a focus on residential carpentry projects or remodeling work.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods; comfortable working off a ladder or scaffold.
• Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to safety compliance.
• Reliable transportation to and from work, as well as own hand tools such as hammer, tape measure, drills, etc.

NOTE: All jobs will not always be on construction sites or residential properties, you may also be needed to work at the shop.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
