Application Question(s):
- Question 1. Your work life, as a story.
Tell us about your working life so far — not as a resume, but as a story. Where did you start? What did each job teach you? And what made you decide to leave each one? (Include jobs that might look small on paper. They rarely are).
- Question 2. The unglamorous work.
Every job includes work that nobody finds glamorous — cleaning, counting, repeating, fixing other people’s messes. Tell us about a task or a period of work like that in your life. How did you approach it, and what kept you going?
- Question 3. Learning something hard from scratch.
Describe something genuinely difficult you learned from zero as an adult — at work or outside of it. How did you go about learning it? What was the hardest moment, and how did you get past it? (This matters to us because almost everyone we hire learns our industry from scratch).
- Question 4. Criticism that was hard to hear.
Think of a time you received criticism that stung — from a manager, a coworker, a teacher, anyone. What exactly was the criticism? How did you react in the moment? And what did you actually do about it afterward?
- Question 5. Your current work-in-progress.
What is something you are not good at yet, but are actively working on right now? What specifically are you doing about it — this month, this week?
- Question 6. Someone you admired.
Tell us about a coworker — past or present — whom you genuinely admired. What did they do, specifically, that earned your respect?
- Question 7. A real conflict.
Describe a real conflict or friction you had with a coworker or a manager. What happened, what was your part in it, and how did it end? (Everyone has had one. We are interested in the honest version).
- Question 8. When someone else got what you wanted.
Tell us about a time when someone else received the recognition, raise, or promotion that you wanted — or believed you deserved. What went through your mind, and what did you do afterward?
- Question 9. Helping when nobody asked.
Describe a time when you helped someone at work when it wasn’t your job and nobody asked you to. What did you do, and what happened as a result?
- Question 10. A mistake with real consequences.
Tell us about a mistake you made at work that had real consequences — for a customer, a coworker, or the company. How was it discovered, and what did you do once you realized what had happened?
- Question 11. When honesty was costly.
Describe a situation where telling the truth was uncomfortable, embarrassing, or costly for you. What did you decide to do — and how did you feel about that decision today?
- Question 12. The fair deal.
In your view, what does a fair relationship between an employee and an employer look like? What do each side owe the other — and where do you think most workplaces get this wrong?
- Question 13. Through your managers’ eyes.
If we spoke with your previous managers, what would they say is your greatest strength? And what would they honestly say is your biggest weakness — the thing that sometimes frustrated them about working with you?
- Question 14. How you would leave.
Someday you may decide to move on from a job — most people do, and we respect that. What would make you decide to leave a job? And how would you go about leaving?
- Question 15. Now evaluate us.
It’s your turn. What would you need to know about Deluxe Medical Supply to decide whether this is the right place for you? Ask us anything — we will answer honestly at your interview.
