What they need

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. As a Caseworker within Meli’s Youth Homelessness Support program, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people aged 16–25 across the Barwon region to achieve safe, stable and sustainable housing outcomes. Working as part of an integrated and supportive team, you will provide intensive case management and assertive outreach, building strong, trusting relationships with young people and their families.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams and external services to address complex and interconnected challenges such as mental health, family breakdown, and barriers to education and employment. With a strong focus on early intervention, capacity building and independence, you’ll empower young people to develop the skills, confidence and connections they need to create positive, long-term change in their lives.

About the Role

As a Caseworker – Youth Homelessness Support, you will:

  • Provide assertive outreach and intensive case management to young people (16–25 years) and their families, building strong and meaningful engagement
  • Assess the holistic needs of young people, identifying barriers to safe, stable and sustainable housing outcomes
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with young people and key stakeholders, addressing factors such as mental health, AOD and family violence
  • Advocate for young people and coordinate access to supports, services and opportunities that strengthen independence, wellbeing and community connection
