Cashier

Semicolon Cafe is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier to help manage front-counter service and support a smooth café experience. The Cashier will greet guests, take and confirm orders, process transactions, assist with customer questions, and coordinate with the café team to ensure orders are handled accurately and efficiently. This role is well suited for someone who is organized, approachable, and comfortable providing friendly service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and create a friendly first impression.
• Take orders carefully and confirm selections before submitting them.
• Operate the POS system and handle customer payments accurately.
• Provide basic information about menu items and available options.
• Communicate order details and special requests to café team members.
• Assist with order pickup and make sure completed orders reach customers correctly.
• Keep the register, counter, and surrounding service area neat and organized.
• Replenish front-counter supplies such as bags, napkins, cups, and receipt paper.
• Follow cash-handling, sanitation, food-safety, and café operating procedures.
• Help with other daily service duties as assigned by the café team.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier, café, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience is helpful.
• Friendly, courteous, and professional attitude.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and responsible.
• Comfortable learning and using a POS/register system.
• Able to maintain accuracy while serving multiple customers.
• Good attention to cleanliness and order details.
• Works well with coworkers in a team-oriented setting.
