Cashier

Madis Coffee Roasters is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Cashier to support daily coffee shop operations. This role involves welcoming customers, taking orders, processing payments, answering basic questions about coffee and café offerings, and helping maintain a clean and organized service area. The ideal candidate is attentive, reliable, and comfortable working in a busy café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional service.
• Take customer orders accurately and confirm order details.
• Operate the POS system and process cash and card payments accurately.
• Answer basic questions about coffee, beverages, food items, and café offerings.
• Communicate orders and customer requests clearly with baristas and café staff.
• Organize completed orders for dine-in, pickup, or takeout service.
• Keep the register, counter, and customer-facing areas clean and organized.
• Restock cups, lids, bags, napkins, utensils, and other café supplies.
• Follow cash-handling, food-safety, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures.
• Assist coworkers with routine café duties during busy periods.
• Support opening, closing, and other daily coffee shop responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier, coffee shop, café, restaurant, retail, or customer-service experience is helpful.
• Friendly, professional, and respectful approach to customers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Comfortable learning and using POS systems.
• Good attention to detail and order accuracy.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced coffee shop environment.
• Willingness to learn menu items, coffee products, and café procedures.
