Cashier

Back Bay Social is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Cashier to support daily restaurant operations and provide efficient service to guests. This role involves greeting customers, processing payments, assisting with orders, answering basic menu questions, and maintaining a clean and organized service area. The ideal candidate is attentive, professional, and comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately when needed.
• Operate the POS system and process cash, card, and other approved payments.
• Answer basic questions about menu items, pricing, and restaurant offerings.
• Confirm order details and communicate special requests clearly with kitchen and service staff.
• Provide receipts and assist with routine checkout requests.
• Help organize completed orders for pickup or service as needed.
• Keep the register, counter, and front-of-house areas clean and organized.
• Restock napkins, utensils, containers, and other service supplies.
• Assist coworkers with routine restaurant duties during busy service periods.
• Support opening, closing, and daily restaurant responsibilities as assigned.
• Follow cash-handling, food-safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures.
• Communicate customer concerns or order issues to the appropriate team member.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier, restaurant, café, retail, or customer-service experience is helpful.
• Friendly, respectful, and professional approach to guests.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Comfortable learning and using POS systems.
• Good attention to detail and transaction accuracy.
• Able to remain organized during busy service periods.
• Willingness to learn menu items and restaurant procedures.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
