Cashier

We are looking for a friendly, accurate, and customer-focused Cashier to join our retail team. The successful candidate will ensure that every customer receives efficient service at checkout while processing payments accurately and following all cash-handling and store procedures. Cashiers typically scan purchases, accept cash and card payments, issue receipts and refunds, balance their till, and help maintain an organised checkout area. They may also answer customer questions, assist with returns, and support light shop-floor duties. Key Responsibilities

Welcome customers warmly and provide a positive, professional checkout experience.

Scan and process customer purchases accurately using the cash register or POS system.

Accept cash, card, gift-card, voucher, and digital payments in line with company procedures.

Issue receipts, correct change, refunds, credits, and exchanges accurately.

Check product prices, quantities, promotions, and discounts, escalating discrepancies where necessary.

Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift and report any variances promptly.

Handle returns and exchanges in accordance with store policy.

Keep the cash desk, checkout area, and nearby displays clean, organised, and well stocked.

Support stock replenishment, housekeeping, and other store operations during quieter periods.

Desired Candidate Profile

Previous experience as a cashier, sales assistant, or in a customer-service role is preferred but not essential.

Experience using a POS system, card terminal, barcode scanner, or cash register is an advantage.

Strong numerical ability and excellent attention to detail.

Ability to handle cash, payments, refunds, and transactions responsibly and accurately.

Friendly communication skills and a helpful, calm approach with customers.

Ability to work efficiently in a busy retail environment.

Reliable, honest, organised, and able to follow procedures carefully.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with light stock-handling tasks.
