Cashier

Overview

Red Berry Coffee Bar is a neighborhood coffee bar in downtown Los Altos, and we're hiring a friendly, reliable, part time cashier to be the first face our guests see. You'll take orders, handle payments, and keep the front counter running smoothly during busy rushes and quiet afternoons alike.

Responsibilities

• Greet every guest warmly and take orders accurately at the register
• Process cash, card, and mobile payments on our Square POS, and handle refunds and voids correctly
• Answer questions about drinks, food, ingredients, and allergens, and suggest items when guests are unsure
• Pass orders clearly to the bar and kitchen, and call out completed orders
• Keep the counter, condiment station, pastry case, and seating area clean and stocked
• Help with catering pickups, phone orders, and to-go packaging
• Pitch in on simple bar tasks (drip coffee, tea, pastries) as you're trained
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and opening or closing checklists
• Help out with other tasks in the kitchen, if needed

Qualifications

• A friendly, patient attitude with guests, including during a rush
• Previous cashier or retail register experience preferred but not required
• Barista or café experience a plus but not required
• Comfort handling cash and making accurate change
• Reliability: on time, every shift
• Ability to stand for a full shift and lift up to 25 lb
• Availability for weekend shifts
• California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire (we'll help you get it)

Pay: From $18.70 per hour
