Duties

• Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing the cash drawer at shift end
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
• Upsell products and promote store promotions to enhance sales opportunities
• Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with merchandising displays to create an inviting shopping environment
• Handle phone inquiries professionally using good phone etiquette, directing calls or providing information as needed
• Conduct product demos when necessary to educate customers about new or featured items
• Assist with inventory management by stocking products and participating in periodic stock counts

Skills

• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in both bilingual (or multilingual) settings
• Proficiency in POS systems, cash register operations, and basic retail math for accurate transactions
• Previous cashiering experience in retail or grocery store environments is highly desirable
• Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership skills are a plus for supporting team efforts
• Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and inventory procedures
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and patience in handling diverse customer needs
• Ability to manage cash handling procedures responsibly, including cash drawer handling and balancing shifts accurately
• Experience with upselling techniques and product demos to maximize sales opportunities
• Familiarity with grocery store operations or retail sales transactions enhances your effectiveness in this role
