Responsibilities

• Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process retail sales transactions, returns, and exchanges
• Handle cash register operations including cash handling, balancing cash drawers, and issuing receipts
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
• Conduct product demos when needed to showcase features and benefits to customers
• Upsell products and promote store specials to maximize sales opportunities
• Assist with stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and maintaining store displays to ensure an inviting shopping environment
• Demonstrate strong phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors over the phone
• Maintain knowledge of store products, retail math for accurate transactions, and merchandising standards
• Support supervising staff by guiding new team members on cashier procedures and customer service protocols
• Engage in basic math calculations for transactions, discounts, or refunds to ensure accuracy

Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations for smooth transaction processing
• Previous retail sales experience, especially in grocery or similar stores preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear information and friendly assistance
• Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer needs effectively
• Experience in supervising or mentoring team members is advantageous
• Knowledge of retail store product details, merchandising techniques, and stock management practices
• Excellent phone etiquette for professional customer interactions over the phone
• Ability to perform retail math accurately for sales totals, discounts, and change handling
• Familiarity with grocery store operations or similar environments enhances performance in this role
