About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Cashier to join the team at Loving Pharmacy in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience at the point of sale. As a Cashier, you will be the final point of contact for our customers, ensuring smooth, accurate transactions whilst maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our pharmacy and directly contributes to customer satisfaction and store efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Operating the cash register efficiently and accurately, processing customer payments via cash, card and other payment methods
• Scanning items, calculating totals and providing customers with receipts and change in a prompt and courteous manner
• Greeting customers warmly and assisting them with their queries and purchases
• Maintaining a clean and organised checkout area, including restocking supplies and ensuring the till is well-stocked
• Handling customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalating issues to management when necessary
• Verifying age-restricted products and ensuring all relevant policies are followed
• Reconciling the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts, identifying and reporting discrepancies
• Following all health, safety and hygiene protocols, particularly relevant to pharmacy operations
• Supporting other team members during busy periods and assisting with general store duties as required
• Maintaining confidentiality and respecting customer privacy at all times

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Cashier or in a retail customer service role, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
• Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple transactions and priorities
• Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling equipment
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all transactions and record-keeping
• A professional appearance and demeanour, with the ability to represent the pharmacy brand positively
• Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work scheduled hours including potential weekend shifts
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and policies is a plus, but we are happy to provide training to the right candidate
• Familiarity with Malaysian retail environments and local payment methods is advantageous
