Cashier/Customer Service Representative

Duties

• Operate the cash register and POS (Point of Sale) system accurately during retail sales transactions, including cash handling and balancing cash drawers.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product demos to enhance their shopping experience.
• Upsell products and promote store specials to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure the sales floor is clean, inviting, and well-merchandised to support retail store product knowledge.
• Handle phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and providing information as needed.
• Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking products and participating in merchandising efforts to keep displays attractive and organized.
• Support team members with supervising experience by helping to train new staff on cashiering procedures and customer service standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred; familiarity with retail math and basic math skills are essential for accurate transactions.
• Proficiency in POS systems, cash register operations, and cash handling procedures is required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
• Demonstrated cashiering skills along with excellent phone etiquette and customer service orientation.
• Experience in supervising or mentoring team members is advantageous; ability to assist with product demos and upselling techniques.
• Knowledge of retail store product details, merchandising practices, and grocery store operations enhances your effectiveness in this role.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift merchandise, and perform physical tasks related to stocking and store maintenance.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
