Cashier/Receptionist

Job Summary

The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for handling customer payments, processing orders accurately, maintaining proper cash control, and providing friendly and efficient service to customers. The cashier must ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly and that cash and payment records are properly maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers politely and provide efficient service.
• Receive and accurately enter customer orders into the POS system.
• Process cash, card, online, and other approved payment methods.
• Issue receipts and ensure the correct amount of change is given.
• Verify all bills, notes, and payment transactions carefully.
• Maintain accurate cash balance throughout the shift.
• Handle cash drawer responsibly and securely.
• Reconcile cash and POS collections at the end of each shift.
• Report any cash shortage, excess, incorrect transaction, or payment issue immediately to the supervisor.
• Ensure all discounts, cancellations, refunds, and complimentary items are authorized as per company policy.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to ensure orders are processed correctly.
• Assist customers with billing-related questions and resolve minor payment issues professionally.
• Keep the cashier counter, POS area, and surrounding area clean and organized.
• Follow company procedures for cash handling, billing, discounts, refunds, and closing procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of company financial and customer information.
• Follow all restaurant hygiene, safety, attendance, and operational procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Supervisor.

Cash & POS Control

• Never leave the cash drawer unattended.
• Do not use company cash for personal purposes.
• Do not exchange personal money with the cash drawer without authorization.
• Ensure every sale is properly entered into the POS system.
• Verify the closing cash and POS report before handing over the shift.
• Any discrepancy must be reported immediately and properly documented.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous cashier or restaurant experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Basic mathematics and ability to handle cash accurately.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
• Honest, responsible, punctual, and attentive to detail.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays when required.
• Basic English communication is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

Performance Expectations

The cashier is expected to maintain 100% accuracy in billing and cash handling, follow all company procedures, provide courteous customer service, and maintain punctuality, discipline, and professional conduct at all times. Pay: AED1,200.00 - AED1,500.00 per month
