Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, honest, and customer-focused Cashier to join our retail team. The Cashier will be responsible for accurately processing customer transactions, handling cash and other payment methods, issuing receipts, and providing excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.

The ideal candidate must be trustworthy, attentive to detail, numerate, and capable of working efficiently in a busy retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately process customer purchases and transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
• Receive cash, card, transfer, and other approved forms of payment.
• Issue accurate receipts to customers after every transaction.
• Verify prices, discounts, promotions, and product quantities before completing transactions.
• Count and verify cash received and provide the correct change to customers.
• Maintain accurate records of daily sales and transactions.
• Reconcile cash and POS transactions at the end of each shift.
• Report cash shortages, overages, discrepancies, or suspicious transactions immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure that all transactions are processed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and escalate unresolved issues when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout area.
• Assist customers with product or pricing inquiries when required.
• Ensure that returned, cancelled, or voided transactions are properly authorized and documented.
• Safeguard company cash, POS equipment, receipts, and other assigned materials.
• Work closely with the Store, Inventory, Sales, and Accounts teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding company sales and financial information.
• Adhere strictly to company policies, cash-handling procedures, and internal controls.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Minimum of NCE**/BSC/OND**; relevant qualifications in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related fields are an advantage.
• Previous experience as a Cashier, POS Operator, Sales Assistant, or in a similar retail position is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and electronic payment methods.
• Strong numerical and basic calculation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Must be honest, trustworthy, responsible, and dependable.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required.
• Must be comfortable standing for extended periods.
