Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register (POS system) efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately
• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
• Conduct product demos when applicable to showcase features and benefits to customers
• Upsell additional products or services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities
• Stock shelves neatly and replenish inventory to maintain an organized, attractive store presentation
• Manage cash drawer handling with accuracy, including cash handling procedures and balancing registers at shift end
• Maintain phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors over the phone
• Support merchandising efforts by arranging products according to planograms and promotional displays

Skills

• Proven experience with POS systems and cash register operations in a retail or grocery environment
• Strong customer service skills with excellent communication abilities in both bilingual settings (if applicable)
• Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team coordination or training roles
• Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for retail math calculations and cash handling
• Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and inventory management
• Experience with stock replenishment, stocking procedures, and product demos to engage customers effectively
• Familiarity with grocery store operations or retail sales transactions is highly desirable
• Exceptional phone etiquette, active listening skills, and the ability to upsell products confidently
