Casting Cleaning Operator B 3rd Shift

Primary Function:
Removal of ceramic shell material from cast parts.

Tools and Equipment:
High pressure water wash units, hand sanding cabinets, racks, personal protective equipment,

electronic media.

Material:
Aluminum, copper, and brass based alloys, ceramic shell material, sand, plexiglas viewing windows,
etc.

Direction of Others:
None

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF

OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.
2 Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
3 Shall receive daily work assignments from the supervisor.
4 Shall be able to efficiently and effectively use high pressure water wash equipment, hand

sanding cabinets, and manual wash cabinets to remove ceramic shell material from castings,

following the electronically provided work instructions.
5 Shall place individual castings on racks maintaining batch integrity, keeping the appropriate
test bars together with the castings.
6 Shall exercise extreme care in removing the ceramic from the castings, avoiding any water blast
damage.
7 Shall visually inspect all castings, notifying the supervisor of any cleaning problems.
8 Shall transfer castings to the next operation on the process sheet.
9 Shall replace plexiglas viewing windows, and do other minor maintenance as required.
10 Shall be capable of establishing acceptable casting cleaning techniques (including fixturing) for

sample and preproduction runs.
11 Shall maintain all labor vouchers, records, and files, in addition to a variety of logs where

accuracy is paramount, and enter all required information into the Company software in a
timely manner.
12 Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
13 Shall maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
14 Shall attend and successfully complete lock out / tag out training.
15 Shall attend and successfully complete training in the proper techniques of lifting.
16 Shall perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
Must be able to tolerate the normal temperature swings typically experienced in a foundry environment,
in addition to the damp, wet conditions due to working around water blasting equipment.

Special Skills Required:
Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to perform the physical demands of the job.
Must have average working knowledge of personal computers and related software.
No minimum formal educational achievement required.
