We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Casual Chef to support our kitchen operation at Whitemans Green Sports Club. This is an opportunity to work in a welcoming sports club environment, preparing good food for members, visitors and guests.
The Role
You will support food preparation and service at the club, helping deliver consistent food quality while keeping the kitchen clean, organised and running efficiently.
The role will suit a capable chef who enjoys practical kitchen work, communicates well and can adapt to changing service levels. You should be comfortable working independently when required and alongside colleagues during busier periods.
Shifts will be offered according to the club’s operating needs, fixtures and bookings. Evening and weekend availability will be valuable.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present food to agreed recipes, portion sizes and standards.
- Organise your preparation and work area so you are ready for service.
- Deliver orders accurately and efficiently, maintaining quality during busy periods.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to coordinate service and communicate waiting times, availability and dietary requirements.
- Follow food safety procedures, allergen controls and safe working practices.
- Complete temperature checks, cleaning records and other kitchen documentation as required.
- Check deliveries, store ingredients correctly and maintain stock rotation.
- Help control waste through careful preparation, portioning and storage.
- Keep the kitchen, equipment and food storage areas clean and organised.
- Report stock shortages, equipment faults and other issues promptly.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a professional, friendly working environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Takes pride in producing consistently good food.
- Is organised, dependable and able to work at pace.
- Can follow recipes and kitchen procedures while using sound judgement during service.
- Is confident managing their own preparation and workload.
- Communicates clearly and works well with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues.
- Understands food hygiene, safe food handling and allergen management.
- Is comfortable with the varied demands of a sports club kitchen.
- Has the right to work in the UK.
Experience in a sports club, pub, café, restaurant or event catering kitchen would be useful.
