About the Role

Venues Ōtautahi is excited to be accepting applications for passionate chefs to join our casual staffing pool.

Based in our production kitchen at One New Zealand Stadium, you will be part of our well organised and highly experienced kitchen team delivering exclusive events from 5 up to 5,000 covers.

Working with excellent local product you'll be cooking some of the very best event dishes in New Zealand. The role involves providing support to the culinary execution across all the Venues Ōtautahi events to provide an outstanding, market leading offering.

We are looking for experienced Production Chefs to support the preparation and delivery of high-quality catering across all Venues Ōtautahi function events. Shift times typically run between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

This role involves assisting the senior kitchen team with day-to-day operations of the banqueting and production kitchens, including:

• Food preparation and cooking
• Portioning and plating
• Maintaining food safety standards
• Ensuring kitchen areas remain organised and efficient
• Supporting operational excellence across all venues

Your work will directly shape the experience of thousands of guests — from corporate functions to major concerts and international sporting fixtures.

About Us

Venues Ōtautahi attract and host a wide range of events in Christchurch and manage a diverse and iconic portfolio of community venues, including One New Zealand Stadium, Christchurch Town Hall, Wolfbrook Arena, Hagley Oval, and the Air Force Museum of New Zealand

The events held across the Venues Ōtautahi portfolio deliver significant social, cultural, and economic benefit to the region and ultimately these iconic city venues play a valued role to the Christchurch way of life and the economic prosperity and social wellbeing of the region.

About You

Ideal candidates will have:

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver to a set standard in a demanding environment
• Availability to accept shifts that are typically between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm weekdays - we have plenty of shifts available!
