Due to the individual communication and safety needs of the participants we support, applicants must have a strong practical command of spoken and written English, including excellent listening and comprehension skills.

Some of our participants live with acquired brain injuries, intellectual or learning disabilities, and communication difficulties. It is essential that our Support Workers can clearly understand what a participant is communicating, explain information in a way the participant can understand, follow verbal and written instructions accurately, and recognise when clarification is needed. Clear communication is particularly important when responding to changes in behaviour, health or wellbeing, following support plans, documenting shift information and communicating during an emergency. This requirement relates solely to the communication demands and safety responsibilities of the role and applies equally to all applicants.
