About the role

The Casual Kitchen Hand helps keep the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly. The role supports the kitchen team with washing dishes, cleaning work areas and polishing all cookery items.

The successful candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious and comfortable working as part of a team in a busy restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

Kitchen and dishwashing duties

• Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, cookware and kitchen equipment.
• Operate the dishwasher or other cleaning equipment in line with training and instructions.
• Keep the dishwashing area clean, organised and stocked with required supplies.
• Put clean items away in their correct storage locations.
• Remove rubbish and recycling and replace liners as required.

Cleaning and food safety

• Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, floors and equipment as directed.
• Follow Suzy’s food-safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures.
• Use cleaning products safely and follow product instructions.
• Help prevent cross-contamination by following training and instructions.
• Keep walkways and work areas clear, and promptly report spills, hazards or faulty equipment.

• The ability to stay organised and work at a steady pace during busy periods.

Previous kitchen-hand or hospitality experience is helpful but is not essential if the candidate is willing to learn.
