Sightline Security is growing, and we are looking to build a reliable, professional pool of casual security contractors with a strong focus on retail security and loss prevention.

This position is an opportunity to establish yourself with a growing security company and potentially progress into regular, full-time contractor work as new contracts and ongoing opportunities become available.

We are specifically looking for people who want to build a long-term working relationship with Sightline Security. Contractors who consistently demonstrate reliability, professionalism, strong performance and availability will be considered for increased hours and opportunities to move into regular or full-time contractor positions as the company grows.

There are no guaranteed hours at the casual stage. Work will be offered as assignments and contracts become available.

About the Role

The primary focus of this position is retail security, including retail loss prevention and CCTV monitoring.

Responsibilities may include:

• Retail security and loss prevention
• CCTV monitoring within retail environments
• Monitoring and identifying suspicious or concerning activity
• Maintaining a visible and professional security presence
• Responding appropriately to incidents
• Communicating professionally with retail staff, customers and management
• Completing clear and accurate incident and shift reports
• Monitoring and documenting activity through CCTV
• Assisting with the prevention and reporting of theft, loss and other incidents
• Following site-specific procedures and instructions
• Other duties relevant to the assignment

The majority of available work will be retail-based.

Occasionally, contractors may also be offered other types of security work, including surveillance, static security, night assignments, events or specialist work. These opportunities will be less frequent and will depend on client requirements, experience and suitability.

• Have strong observation and attention-to-detail skills
• Be comfortable working independently
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be comfortable working in a customer-facing retail environment
• Be able to remain calm and professional when dealing with incidents
• Be comfortable using CCTV systems, smartphones and basic technology
• Be willing to learn and follow site-specific procedures
• Be able to accept short-notice shifts where possible
• Have a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in security
• Be interested in progressing into regular and potentially full-time contractor work as opportunities become available

Experience

Retail security and CCTV experience is highly desirable and would be considered an advantage, but is not required.

Experience in areas such as:

• Retail security
• Loss prevention
• CCTV monitoring
• Customer service
• Security
• Police or law enforcement
• Military
• Investigations

may be beneficial.

However, we are also interested in applicants who have the right attitude, professionalism, reliability and willingness to learn.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Hold a full New Zealand Certificate of Approval (COA)
• Hold a full New Zealand driver's licence
• Have reliable access to a vehicle
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand

Training & Development

Successful contractors will receive Sightline-specific training and guidance on the job.

Training will be relevant to the assignments being undertaken and may include:

• Retail security procedures
• CCTV monitoring
• Observation and awareness
• Loss prevention
• Communication
• Incident management
• Report writing
• Conflict management
• Professional security practices
• Client and site expectations

Progression is based on business requirements, performance, reliability, professionalism and availability, and is not guaranteed.

Pay & Availability

$27–$29 per hour

This is a casual contractor position with no guaranteed minimum hours.

Work will be offered based on client requirements and contractor availability.

Shifts may include weekdays, weekends, daytime, evening and overnight work depending on the requirements of our retail clients.

The ability to accept short-notice shifts where possible is an advantage.
