Key Responsibilities

The Cataloguer position is required to ensure the systematic classification, cataloguing, and accurate maintenance of library resources.

The incumbent will facilitate efficient record management, retrieval, and accessibility of books, journals, and other information resources for students, faculty, and researchers.

• Issue receipts for books.
• Keep and update library membership records.
• Create original and copy catalog records for books, serials, theses, and digital media using Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) or Library of Congress systems.
• Assist in the maintenance and operation of the library automation system, including creation and editing of bibliographic records.
• Maintain and update electronic databases and catalogs (such as Koha/ DSpace) to ensure accurate indexing and searchability.
• Coordinate the processing, including covering, labelling, barcoding, stamping, packaging and systematic shelving of new library acquisitions.
• Prepare bibliographies, indexes, reading lists, guides and other finding aids.
• Maintains professional cataloguing standards, including monitoring and staying current with OCLC, MARC, RDA, LCSH, DDC, AACR2.
• Provides customer service at the Information desk on scheduled shifts/rotation and as needed.
• Performs related administrative duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.

• NUST employees with less than one year of service with NUST and/or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.

• In the process of pursuing a required degree.

• Medically unfit.

Candidates serving in Govt departments or Armed forces will be required to furnish a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective parent department/organization.
