Category Manager

Role Description

We are looking for a commercially minded and analytical Category Manager to develop and manage product categories, drive sales performance, and support overall business growth. You will be responsible for developing category strategies based on market trends, customer insights, business objectives, and competitive analysis.

You will work closely with merchandising, procurement, marketing, sales, operations, and other cross-functional teams to manage category performance and ensure product strategies are effectively executed. Responsibilities include assortment planning, product selection, pricing analysis, promotional planning, inventory coordination, and performance monitoring.

You will analyze sales data, market trends, customer behavior, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and improve category profitability. You will also monitor key performance indicators, evaluate promotional effectiveness, and recommend actions to optimize product mix, pricing, and overall category performance.

The role involves managing relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, supporting negotiations where required, and ensuring that category initiatives are aligned with commercial objectives. You will continuously identify opportunities to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and category competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of category management, merchandising, product assortment, pricing, promotions, and commercial strategy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and customer insights.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business or analytical tools.
• Ability to develop data-driven category strategies and translate analysis into practical business actions.
• Good understanding of market research, competitor analysis, consumer behavior, and commercial performance metrics.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with procurement, marketing, sales, operations, finance, and other cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and business initiatives.
• Commercially driven mindset with strong attention to detail and a focus on revenue, profitability, and customer value.
• Familiarity with retail platforms, e-commerce, ERP systems, BI tools, or category analytics is a plus.
• Proactive, adaptable, and results-oriented, with a strong interest in identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement.
