Caterer / Event Driver

Location: New Port Richey, FL (events throughout the Tampa Bay area)
Job Type: Part-time, event-based
Pay: $18+ per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event bookings

About Vesh Catering
Vesh Catering is a family-owned catering company based in New Port Richey. We cater weddings, corporate events, and private parties across Tampa Bay. We’re a small team that takes pride in great food, clean setups, and events that run on time.

The Role
You’ll be the person who gets the food and equipment to the event and back safely, and runs the food side of the event while you’re there. You’ll drive the Vesh van, load it, unload it, set up the buffet and appetizer stations, keep the food full during service, and break everything down at the end.

What You’ll Do

Driving and Transport

• Drive the Vesh catering van to and from event venues across the Tampa Bay area
• Pack the van so it unloads in order, with heavy items on the bottom, fragile items on top, and everything strapped down
• Keep hot boxes and coolers latched and braced, and keep food separate from trash, dirty equipment, and chemicals
• Drive smoothly with food on board, and keep the Event Lead updated if traffic will make you late
• Do a quick walk-around of the van before each trip and report any problems right away
• Plan your route and load-in time ahead using the venue’s loading entrance and parking

Load Out

• Review the BEO (the event’s order sheet) and the pack list with the Event Lead before you leave
• Check off every item on the pack list before the van leaves Vesh

Setup and Service

• Unload the servers’ equipment first so they can start setting up right away
• Set up appetizer stations, passed-appetizer platters, and buffets (single- or double-sided depending on guest count)
• Light and manage Sternos safely
• Keep the buffet full by swapping in fresh pans, never topping off old food
• Pack the van as each course finishes so breakdown goes faster

Close Out

• Clear, pack, and label leftovers as the Event Lead directs
• Load the van against the pack list and do a final walkthrough of the venue
• Unload back at Vesh: food into the cooler, equipment to the dish area, linens to laundry
• Report anything missing or damaged

Requirements

• At least 26 years old, with a valid Florida driver’s license held for at least [2] years
• Clean driving record (we’ll check your motor vehicle record before hiring)
• Comfortable driving a cargo van in traffic and backing into tight loading areas (no CDL needed)
• Able to lift and carry 50 lbs over and over, and stand for 6–8 hours
• Available evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Reliable and on time, because the event can’t start until the food arrives
• Willing to complete Florida food handler training
• Must pass background check
• Professional appearance and grooming standards.

Nice to Have

• Catering, banquet, or restaurant experience
• Food handler certificate already in hand
• Knowledge of the Tampa Bay and Pasco County roads and venues
• No smoking
