Catering Assistant

Your role will be to support our catering outlets, provide a warm welcome to our customers and help keep the catering operation running smoothly. This is a hands-on role covering customer service, food and drink preparation, taking payments, clearing tables and supporting the kitchen with pot washing and cleaning.

When required, you may also help our Garden Centre team, assisting customers, replenishing stock and keeping displays tidy and welcoming.

What you’ll be doing:

• Serving our customers: Greeting customers in a friendly, professional manner, accurately taking orders and preparing, presenting and serving food and drinks.
• Keeping our catering areas clean: Clearing tables and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout our catering and dining areas.
• Supporting the kitchen: Helping with pot washing and clean-down duties as part of the wider catering team.
• Handling payments: Operating tills and processing customer transactions accurately once full till training has been provided.
• Working safely: Following food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Working as a team: Supporting colleagues across departments to help deliver a positive customer experience.
• Supporting the Garden Centre: Helping with customer enquiries and purchases, stock replenishment, pricing, housekeeping and product displays when required.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll be approachable, professional and confident speaking with customers, with strong communication skills and a proactive, flexible attitude. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable in a fast-paced catering environment, staying calm when things get busy.

Availability to work weekends and bank holidays is required.

Previous catering or hospitality experience and food safety awareness or training are desirable.
