What they need

We're looking for an experienced, passionate and proactive Catering Manager to lead the daily management and delivery of Café Recharge at FireFit Youth & Community Hub in Liverpool.

As part of the wider Torus Group, you'll play an important role in embedding our values across everything you do. You'll be responsible for the daily management and delivery of the Café Recharge offer, including food provision that supports the youth programme, alongside catering for commercial bookings and events. You'll lead the café team, create nutritious menus that meet the needs of our local communities and service users, and ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, food hygiene and customer service are maintained at all times.

Working closely with the Centre Manager and wider FireFit team, you'll help deliver a high-quality, customer-focused catering service that supports the FireFit Hub and the communities we serve.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the day-to-day management and delivery of Café Recharge, ensuring a high-quality, customer-focused service.
  • Manage, support and develop the café team, including staff rotas, performance management, one-to-ones and team meetings.
  • Plan and oversee catering provision for Café Recharge, commercial bookings and events, ensuring resources, staffing and budgets are in place.
  • Create nutritious, balanced and inclusive menus, recipes and catering packages that meet the needs of service users, community customers and commercial clients.
  • Manage the catering budget, stock control systems and purchasing processes, ensuring value for money and compliance with financial procedures.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and external providers.
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of food and beverages served through Café Recharge and catered events.
  • Support FireFit's youth programme by ensuring food provision is available for young people and delivering cooking and food-based activities alongside the Youth Team.
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safeguarding, health and safety requirements and relevant legislation, maintaining the highest standards across all catering operations.
  • Monitor performance, maintain accurate records and support the ongoing sustainability and success of Café Recharge as part of the wider FireFit Hub offer.

What we're looking for:

  • A Level 3 Professional Catering, Hospitality or recognised Catering qualification and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience managing within a catering environment, with a strong understanding of food safety and industry regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, catering legislation and Environmental Health requirements, with experience maintaining compliance and audit readiness.
  • Experience managing budgets, stock control and delivering value for money.
  • Experience designing menus that meet a range of customer and dietary needs.
  • Experience building positive supplier relationships and maintaining high service standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication and people management skills.
  • A customer-focused approach, with the ability to motivate teams and create an inclusive working environment.
  • Strong organisational, decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance commercial awareness with social purpose.
  • Experience working within a youth, community, leisure, school or college environment would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to work one evening every fortnight and one Saturday per month as part of the role's regular working pattern.

Interview process:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview at FireFit Youth & Community Hub on Tuesday 10 November 2026. The interview will be competency-based and will provide an opportunity for you to share your experience and demonstrate how your skills, knowledge and approach align with the requirements of the Catering Manager role.
