Catering Server

About the Role
We're looking for friendly, reliable servers to join our on-call event staff. You'll work catered events such as weddings, corporate functions, and private parties, helping guests have a smooth, polished experience from the first pour to the last plate. Work is booked event by event, so this is a good fit if you want flexible hours and varied venues.

Responsibilities

• Greet and serve guests with a warm, professional attitude
• Set up and break down tables, linens, place settings, glassware, and service stations
• Serve plated meals, buffet and family-style service, passed hors d'oeuvres, and beverages
• Clear tables promptly and discreetly during and after service
• Answer basic guest questions about the menu and know which dishes contain common allergens
• Follow the event captain's or lead's direction and work as part of a team
• Help with load-in and load-out, including carrying equipment, rentals, and supplies
• Keep your station clean and follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Stay calm and flexible when timing or event details change

Qualifications

• Prior serving, banquet, or hospitality experience preferred
• Positive, professional presence and good communication skills
• Punctual and dependable, with a willingness to arrive ready to work
• Food handler card or alcohol service certification (if required in your area), or willingness to obtain one before your first event
• Reliable transportation to venues
• Able to follow a dress code

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand and walk for extended periods
• Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs, including trays, chairs, and tables
• Available for evenings, weekends, and holidays, when most events happen

Schedule and Compensation

• On-call and event-based: you choose which events to accept, with no guaranteed hours
• Paid as an independent contractor (1099)
• Onboarding and payment are handled through Gusto
• Event details and call times are sent ahead of each shift

Pay: $30.00 per hour
